Hibi Lens is provided by its App Store developer ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, accessing, or using Hibi Lens ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Use and Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
If you are not legally able to accept these Terms, a parent or legal guardian must review and accept them for you.
The App is a personal language-learning tool that turns captured objects or selected photos into Japanese vocabulary cards. You may use the App for lawful personal and educational purposes in accordance with these Terms, Apple's applicable usage rules, and applicable law.
The App uses an on-device model and bundled learning resources to suggest object labels, Japanese vocabulary, readings, and translations. These results may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for the image or context. Check suggested results against the original image and reliable language-learning sources before relying on them.
The App does not provide certified translation or professional, legal, medical, safety, or academic advice. You are responsible for deciding how to use its results.
You retain any rights you have in photos and other content you provide to the App. You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right and permission to capture, select, store, and use that content.
Do not use the App with content that is unlawful, infringes another person's rights, violates privacy, or contains sensitive information you do not want stored on your device.
You must not misuse the App, interfere with its operation or security, use it to violate applicable law or another person's rights, or attempt to bypass technical restrictions. Restrictions on copying, redistribution, reverse engineering, modification, and transfer are governed by Apple's Standard EULA, except where applicable law or an open-source license permits otherwise.
The App processes captures, vocabulary cards, study progress, and settings primarily on your device. How the App handles data is described in the Hibi Lens Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for maintaining access to and backups of your device. Deleting cards, uninstalling the App, or losing access to the device may result in loss of locally stored content.
The App, its design, code, and original content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of the App to you.
The App includes third-party resources, including JMdict-derived dictionary data and a SigLIP model resource. Those resources remain subject to their respective licenses, which are listed in the App's Sources & Licenses section.
We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the App. We do not guarantee that every feature will remain available or that the App will work with every device or future operating-system version.
You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it. Your right to use the App may end if you materially violate these Terms or Apple's Standard EULA.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of accuracy, reliability, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, learning progress, opportunity, or other losses arising from use of or inability to use the App or reliance on recognition and learning results. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Your license to use the App is governed by Apple's Standard EULA. These Terms supplement and do not replace that agreement. If these Terms conflict with Apple's Standard EULA, the Standard EULA controls to the extent required.
We may update these Terms when the App or applicable requirements change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.
